Savings from Second Harvest
Posted on November 11th, 2008 No comments
I didn’t get any coupons in the mail last week but I did get one tasty treat: two Starbucks gift cards for $5 each (one for me and one for my partner,) just for filling out a survey for Second Harvest.
Unfortunately the survey is now finished. However, Second Harvest has a few other opportunities on the horizon. The first 100 schools or companies that register for Lunch Money Day on February 26, 2009 (a fundraiser encouraging people to give the amount of money they would normally have spent on lunch) will receive a $25 Starbucks gift card.
Plus, save $3 on the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo! Experience the world of gourmet food and wine at the MTCC, November 20 to 23. Click here to purchase your tickets and quote promotion code TASTE to get $3 off admission. As the Expo’s charitable partner, Second Harvest will receive $1 for each tasting glass returned at the show’s exit, plus all proceeds from wine bottle redemptions.
Second Harvest is a great organization - for example, did you know that $5 provides up to 10 meals for people who would otherwise go hungry in Toronto? Or that they provide enough fresh food for about 15,000 nutritious meals each day? I think they are an excellent organization. They have low admin/fundraising costs, and best of all, they are champions of two causes at once: they help the environment by reducing waste, and they feed hungry people. If you are considering your Christmas donation list, I would encourage you to consider their cause. (And no, I do not work for them, I just think they’re doing very important work!) To learn more, head to SecondHarvest.ca.

To celebrate, I’m doing a giveaway - not a sponsored giveaway, just a free giveaway using a stash of coupons that I know you will use and enjoy!
To enter, just leave a comment under this post and be entered into a random draw for 2 coupon prize packs. It will include an assortment of coupons for all kinds of items. You have 8 days to enter, starting today (Sunday, November 2) through Sunday, November 9 (inclusive). I will contact you on Monday, November 10, to let you know if you have won.
Unfortunately, I will have to limit it to residents of Canada only, because I will be giving away Canadian coupons. I am also going to have to exclude my friends in Quebec, because not all the coupons are valid there! Sorry! However, residents of all other provinces of Canada are welcome to participate!

The best deals for your shopping this week
Posted on November 1st, 2008 No comments
This morning I scanned the flyers to check out the best deals. All the stores try to make it look like they are giving the best deals, but not all advertised prices are really that great. By price-shopping and comparing prices on a regular basis, you get to know which prices are really good and which ones are not. You can see the full flyers for your region (if in Canada) at flyerland.ca but I have taken the liberty of scrolling through the flyers to point out the really good deals! My choice this week will be, if I have the time, Loblaws, although some of those deals in the stores are pretty tempting too.

The Coupon Box
Posted on October 27th, 2008 1 comment
Just over a week ago, I had an embarrassing incident at the grocery store, where I dropped my coupons all over the floor, and the cashier yelled at me for not having all my coupons sitting next to the products I was purchasing. To prevent this from ever happening again, I got myself a “coupon box”
Although mine is not as elaborate as others’, I think it will really improve my efficiency from carrying around a Ziplock bag everywhere I go.
The index box itself is small and fits in your hand. It cost me $2 at Staples (I bet I could have got one for $1 at Dollerama!)
I used it the other day and certainly found it more useful. If you create a coupon box, or have a different idea for organizing your coupons, let me know!

Any good deals in there, Butternut?

New coupon!
Posted on October 26th, 2008 No commentsFor all you folks who love Indian food, head out to your local ValuMart. Go to your “ethnic” section and you’ll find a stack of $1-off Pataks coupons, and they come with a mini recipe book and a chance to win a trip to India or $10,000! (Canadians only, sorry my American friends!)
I’m not sure if this is available at any other stores - has anyone else found these great coupons at other stores?
The real question is, which would you take - the $10,000 or the trip to India?
