About Me

Hi and welcome to SaverQueen, a blog about frugality, sustainability and simplicity.

What brings you here? Is it a love for simple cooking with local and humble ingredients? A passion for “upcycling” discarded items into usable, unique crafts? Or maybe it’s your desire to cultivate an appreciation for simple pleasures?

Far from an extreme approach, this blog is about incorporating mindfulness, frugality and creativity into an ordinary life. It documents some of my own practices of reverence towards everyday experiences.  I believe that there is a distinct difference between being frugal and being cheap, the former being the cornerstone of gratitude, sustainability and selflessness.  I hope that this blog helps you to enjoy your frugal life by living peacefully, enjoying great food and the abundance that a simple life has to offer.

Followers from the early SaverQueen days know that this blog began as a way of sharing money saving tips and ideas. It then developed a focus on gratitude and mindfulness, essential practices for me when things got tough – emotionally as well as financially.  Today, I am more grounded, happier, more financially stable and I have a more balanced approach towards money and thriftiness. But I haven’t lost my “thrill of the hunt” for great vintage or thrifted finds. I still love making homemade greeting cards, throwing together a meal “out of nothing” and coming up with other fun, frugal ideas.  As I continue to share my favourite finds and ideas, and blog about my own return to mindfulness and gratitude when I lose my way, I hope you, my readers, will continue to enjoy the story.

  1. Hello,

I live in Leicestershire in the UK, and just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog…it’s really inspirational, and certainly gives me food for thought about how I live my own life (trying to slow the pace down, and find time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life :-) ).

    Please keep writing! :-)

  2. Thank you so much, Lynsey!! Your warm comments are very encouraging. It’s great to hear from you. Thanks for leaving such a nice comment.
